Swiney Publishes Position Paper on Illegal Immigration
In rejoinder to the illegal immigrant legislation recently passed by Arizona, and the nationwide protests that followed, as Seeker for GA House of Representatives District 104, I have decided to make proscribed immigration one of my top 3 legislative priorities in this campaign.
On May 13, 2010 I issued the following hypothesis statement regarding the enforcement and enactment of illegal immigration legislation.
"Georgia, like Arizona, must aggressively run after immigration reform for the protection of our citizens and preservation of our budgetary resources. Currently, Georgia is estimated to have over a humanity of a million illegal aliens, making our state host to the 7th largest unauthorized immigrant population in the country. For those keeping track, Arizona is 6th in interdicted immigration, surpassing Georgia by a mere 30,000 estimated illegals.
The late protest in our own state capital, demonstrates how widespread the problem of unlawful immigration has become. When those who are here illegally take to the streets in direct defiance of our immigration laws, it becomes certain the illegal immigration problem is no longer confined to the southwestern abut on states.
