Virtual airport to encourage foreign studies

The tutor currently offers GCSEs in French, German and Spanish and would like to see more pubescent people studying a language at A-level or for a degree.

To help illustrate the report, the school sought the assistance of North Tyneside Council’s Learning Business Partnership, which linked up with Virgin Atlantic, IBM and Calool Ltd sportswear.

Together, they transformed part of the discipline into an airport, including a real security frame to walk through, a biography-sized departures board, French airport announcements, and cane dressed as cabin crew, to make the experience as authentic as practicable.

Students had to use their language skills to buy their tickets, check-in, pass through security and do some occupation free shopping, before they boarded their “flight”.

IBM Business Ambassadors were also on jointly to lead a series of activities in French.

Each student was issued with a passport that was stamped as they successfully completed each bustle.
