Four deaths shock Korean community
Rapid death of a Korean family has left a community shocked, and ask the right questions - what happened, could they have contributed, and how can they delay this from happening again?
OJ McKenzie-McLean and Martin Van BEYNEN report.
On the FA Baek looked like an ordinary family.
They lived in a large two-story house in a suburban street in Christchurch and has lived a life of garden for many Korean immigrants: Sung Eun Cho, 43, was raising her two children, Sue Yeon Baek (Kelly) 13, and Jae Yeon Baek (Holly), 17, in Christchurch, their initiator, Jin Young Baek, remained in South Korea to support parents and provide better education for their daughters.
Behind these pleasant things were not so different from the family Baek, like Holly said in a blog posted on ripping her sexual hours a Korean networking website before his death with his younger sister, mother and - four days later - his father.

“The provisions here is so cheaply,” says Elizabeth Yoo down the phone from Seoul. “You can get a set lunch for around 2500-3000 KRW (AU$2.50-$3) at the school cafeteria, and it’s very padding. Wherever I go, I almost certainly find myself staring at several restaurants on the one suiting someone to a T, so I find deciding where I go to eat as usual takes period and endeavour.”
Culinary crises aren’t the only emotional attachment on her temper. The third-year Bachelor of Asian Studies (Authority)/Bachelor of Laws apprentice will be living in Seoul for the next year while nether regions her Graduate Diploma in Asia-Pacific Studies, a program commonly referred to as the ‘Year in Asia-Pacific’. Yoo will allot 2010 studying at Seoul Civil University (SNU), South Korea’s oldest and most artistically-ranked university.
“The university campus feels bigger than ANU,” she says. “And there are a lot more swot clubs at SNU – more than 200. [But] the assessment is comparable to ANU: mid-qualifications [exam], settled exam, form participation. However, the lecturers don’t best performance their lectures! You have to be present at all your classes.”
